System & Field Performance Testing
Successful smart metering projects conduct a field test prior to full scale deployment. Enspiria Solutions conducts system and field performance management using the ESIntial™ Metrics Tool, which has been proven to deliver audit quality metrics at major utilities.
The primary goal of field testing in a smart metering project is to verify the system's ability to achieve the benefits identified in the smart metering business case, as well as to meet the functional and performance requirements agreed to in the vendor's statement of work (SOW).
A secondary goal of field testing is to provide hands-on experience with a smart metering system. Successful execution of field testing is often a contract gate for proceeding with mass deployment.
System and Field Testing
Enspiria Solutions offers system and field testing services for utilities that are piloting and deploying smart metering and MDMS technology. Enspiria has engaged with multiple clients to host the ESIntial™ Metrics Tool that measures the progress and validates the effectiveness of their smart metering solutions as they are implemented.
The ESIntial™ Metrics Tool
Tools that analyze and display system performance data are valuable during the testing of a smart metering solution and later while deploying the solution. This is particularly true when reporting results and keeping stakeholders in the loop.
Enspiria Solutions has developed the ESIntial Metrics Tool to provide the data analytics and to communicate the performance validation analytic results for smart metering technology. The analytics are executed utilizing the vendor's smart metering data collection head-end(s) and the selected meter data management system (MDMS) for source data.
Enspiria has implemented the metrics tool and associated testing services at major utilities. At a large northwestern utility, the metric tool handles a meter population of at least 1,000,000 deployed meters. The implementation of the metrics tool at a mid-western utility included hosting the metrics tool, providing a web-based dashboard to view the achievement of performance and accuracy requirements, and integration of the smart metering technology head-ends with the utility's CIS.
